Compactor Cleaning is big business in the USA

Proactive companies in the UK are considering compactor cleaning as a preventative method for improving their working environment.

A waste compactor is a type of waste container, however it is more than just a container as it has mechanical properties also.

A waste compactor machine is designed to compress and reduce the volume of waste materials. This type of equipment is commonly used in commercial and industrial settings where large amounts of waste are generated on a regular basis.

The waste compactor works by compressing waste materials such as cardboard, plastic, and paper into a smaller, more compact size. This reduces the amount of space that the waste occupies and makes it easier to store and transport.

There are several different types of waste compactors, including stationary compactors, self-contained compactors, and vertical compactors. Each type has its own unique features and is designed for specific applications.

Stationary compactors are designed to be permanently installed at a waste generation site and are typically used for large-scale waste management operations. Self-contained compactors are designed to collect and compress waste materials in a single unit, making them ideal for smaller-scale waste management operations. Vertical compactors are designed to compress waste materials in a vertical orientation, which can be more space-efficient than horizontal compactors.

Overall, waste compactors can be an effective tool for reducing waste volume, improving waste management practices, and minimizing the environmental impact of waste disposal.

Compactor bin Maintenance

However, Just like waste container bins, compactors can also become dirty and smelly over time and therefore need cleaning. Both the outside and the inside of a compactor can become very dirty over time. When cleaning the inside of the compactor it is important that any of the waste water is captured and disposed of in line with current regulations and not permitted to escape down local surface water run off drainage where it may be possible to find it way into local waterways and cause pollution.

Compactor cleaning companies will have mobile pressure washing units and water recover capabilities to recover and recycle the waste water and dispose of in line with the local water authorities regulations.

This is often in a foul sewer for which discharge of trade effluent has been granted.

Cleaning a Waste Compactor

Why clean a waste compactor ?

Compactors which regularly hold rubbish can produce foul odours which in turn can attract unwanted pests. Regular cleaning of the inside and outside of the container plus the localised environment where the compactor is sitting will help to ensure a cleaner, healthier environment.
