Iconic Building Cleaning Glasgow

Iconic Building Cleaning with LBC Exterior Cleaning in Glasgow

LBC Exterior prides its self in cleaning some of the most iconic buildings.

The Mitchell Library is possibly one of Glasgows most Iconic Landmarks. It is also one of Europes largest public libraries.

The first stone was laid by the Great Andrew Carnegie back in September 1907 and the building was first opened in 1911.

More than 110 years after the beautiful building was built LBC Exterior Cleaning had the pleasure of helping to restore this historical Landmark in July 2024.

The project

The project included steam cleaning the stonework on the front 3 elevations of the library.

The chosen method for cleaning was DOFF steam cleaning and a mixture of abseiling and Mobile Mewp for access.

The job included 3 DOFF machines a team of 2-3 abseilers and 2 LBC Operatives to manage the equipment and ground level.

The clean included contacting the local council to obtain permission and permits plus Traffic management to make the works as safe as possible to the local public.

It wasn’t all plane sailing however, on the first day of the project the LBC team were severely let down by the abseilers they headlined up to help on the job.

But not ones to give up on an objective at the sight of a small inconvenience just like the great Andrew Carnegie himself the LBC team adapted quickly and managed to book in another abseiling team to get to site the very first day.

The local abseiling team who were quick to respond was Abseiling Services headed up by Paul.

After the first days hick ups, the rest of the project ran smoothly and the team at Glasgow Life who manage the building were delighted with the project overall.
